Pattern Review Helps You Sew Smarter

Pattern Review is a community of users who review patterns, sewing machines, books, notions and fabric shops. They even offer online sewing lessons and tips. The site was started by Deepika when she couldn’t find a web site that would help her decide what sewing patterns were the best to buy. Note: You might need to create an account, (it’s free) to view some older reviews.

Super Easy Coasters

Check out this super easy coaster project from MSL.
"These coasters look like rafts afloat a tabletop. For each coaster, gather 22 small, straight twigs, and trim them to a length of 5 inches. Double a length of waxed twine, loop center an inch from the end of first twig, and tie once. Tie twine around remaining twigs, one by one. Tie knot at end; cut twine close to knot. Repeat on other side."
Just that easy! I think they would look great on the patio.

I am totally addicted to Polyvore!

Check out this way cool bookmarking tool! It allows you to bookmark items and then arrange them so that you can see what they will look like together. Its a great way to tell if those red patent leather pumps will go with that zebra print dress for Saturday's ho night. Or you can see what that sofa that you've had your eye on will look like with a puppy on it! This is an awesome tool for bloggers because you can arrange your ideas, save it, then you will have a page with links to each individual items original site. Click on each picture below to see what I mean.

She's So Tacky

I made a neat message board awhile ago by stapling my favorite fabric onto a piece of foam ceiling tile that we had removed from my office. You can really have fun making one of those. You can sew pockets to it or use several different fabric by sewing them together first. You can also wrap pieces of ribbon to it creating layers of bands to hold things with. The possibilities are endless. But why stop there? You can't add just any old thumb tack to it now! Jessica at How About Orange shows us step by step on how to make these sweet tacks.
(btw- I hung my message board by using Mr. Hubbies nail gun. the headless nails go right thru the fabric so you don't see a thing. prolly not so good with silk.....)

Tie One On

I am so inspired by these 2 chairs by Aimee Less! I love the idea of drilling in some holes and lacing up one of my old junky office chairs to make my very own Corset Chair. Or using some old carpet or cardboard whatever else I have laying around and making my own set of Juki Flatfold chairs.
