Who are you listening to these days?

I could really use an update to my music collection. I have been listening to Ray LaMontagne but he is really a downer....
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward have an album out. She was the actress that played the love interest in ELF amung many other things. She is also Emily Deschanel's sister (from Bones). You can hear some samples of her music here. Its kinda old fashion and fun.

Work in progress....

(Sorry the picture is so crappy. I am a terrible photographer.)
This is what I have been working on this week, cleaning and updating my Salamander's room. I pulled everything out and steam cleaned the carpet. I still have to put the area rug back in once the carpet is totally dry. I have some new Stephen Mackey posters to hang. I made new curtains and a new bulldog lounger. I had so much fun using Heat and Bond to make the funny flowers and silly bulldog. I'm totally addicted! (I'm so going to cover the Trader Joe's logo on my shopping bags now, I hate logos.)
Hey- did you notice the cool Midsummer Light hanging over the table? I scored it at a local card shop on clearance for $16!

Gnomes 30th Anniversary Edition

Gnomes is the product of Rien Poortvliet and Wil Huygen’s observation of the local gnome population in Holland. Until Gnomes was first published in Dutch in 1976, these friendly nocturnal creatures were only represented in folk lore; descriptions were often incomplete or simply inaccurate. Poortvliet and Huygen, having studied and interviewed gnomes for two decades, set out to fill this gap with their own encyclopedic tome.

Gnomes covers all areas of gnome culture, including architecture, education, courtship, medicine, industry, and relationships with other mythical creatures. Huygen’s sober descriptions are balanced by Poortvliet’s light-hearted portrayals of gnomes at work and at play. Thirty years later, this beautifully illustrated volume continues to engage and enchant readers of all ages.

Wallpaper Menagerie

I have always loved these animal silhouettes made from vintage wallpapers and I have actually been keeping an eye out for cool wallpapers at thrift stores. I have another thought though.... Liquid starch! Liquid starch makes a fantastic "wallpaper glue" Use you favorite fabric (or animal cut out of fabric) and adhere it to the wall using the starch the same way you would hang wallpaper. The joy with the starch is that when you are tired of looking at it (or moving out of your rental) just peel it of and wash the walls with soap and water. No harm to the walls!

"Primitive, handmade kitchen chairs – circa 1900 - have been reworked and woven with recycled men's ties." by Alabama Chanin
I have a concrete pad in the corner of my back yard that once held a shed. There are many things that I can do with it....a jacuzzi is on top of my list but since we rent and have no idea if we will stay here for a year or 10 years we hesitate to get one, and likewise with a greenhouse. So here is my thought- I have my friends diningroom set sitting in my garage. I have been trying to sell it for them but with no luck. Do you see where this is going? I could get a bunch of old ties and do what Alabama Chanin did to the above chairs and also cut a hole in the table and add a big rectangular umbrella and make a gypsy style outdoor diningroom! I wonder if Mr. Hubby will go for it?
