Swine Flew

My little piglet has been so sick for the past couple days. I kinda doubt that it is swine flu, and if it is the symptoms are no greater than other illnesses that she brings home. Fever, fatigue, some vomiting and some congestion.

I am so angry with the harsh reaction from the media over this. "THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!!!!" It will be interesting to see how many airlines the stupid VP puts out of business from his rash tongue. But I digress, I know you do not come here for politics and I try to keep my mouth shut because I am a bit conservative and in today's world that apparently makes me evil.

I have spent the past few day sanding and staining a cabinet that I picked up at a thrift store for $2.95. It will be our new medicine cabinet. Kind of a fitting craft for the mood of the house! I should have it completed by tomorrow.

p.s That's not my kid! I found the picture at We Heart It, but I can't find a source beyond that.

And End It With A Joke

Once again I find myself with a zillion tabs opened up on my computer, so I am going to dump them all on you.
Let me start with my favorite- I love love love this little costume by Wovenplay. I think I can come up with something similar for my Little Sophie Salamander.

Wood Tree found by Ohdeedoh.

That's right- a Big Lebowski festival! Right here in LA.

5 different diy headbands. I plan to make this one for my youngin.

"Old, cast-off dinnerware is given new life as this Danish designer fills cracks and chips with 24K gold and then embellishes them with hand-made enamel floral transfers that "grow" out of the damage, making what was once flawed a work of reusable art."
This seems like a great way to turn your crappy dishes into works of art!
Horne

I know it's not Christmas time but here is a little techy craft for ya.

Chocolate magnets actually look and act like chocolate!

Giant pencil sharpener pen holder. I love it! I totally love things that have been made into giant form.
Hand blown glass domes by Fabrica.

There is a new study about women and how they feel about their asses, the results were pretty interesting:

30% of women think their ass is too fat...
10% of women think their ass is too skinny......

The remaining 60% say they don't care, they love him, he's a good man, and they wouldn't trade him for the world!

Happy Earth Day

Inside Urban Green

I was going to do a whole post on the various ways to use recycled plastic bottles but after a few minutes of searching, even I got bored with the idea.
Inside Urban Green has a few great ideas, and so does New Soap Old Bottle, and also Fun In The Making.

The thing that has really brightened my day was a speech made by Daniel Handler of Lemony Snicket given at the Cincinnati Library (my home town). I let it play in a different tab (Firefox) while I snooped the internet. I highly recommend it!

Also watch the video "I Don't Know" by Lisa Hannigan.

We had a busy weekend and I still have not recuperated. We took a ton of our household items to a local antique flea market. We did really well, but it was sssoooooo hot! I'm sure your may have heard about the Southern California heat wave we are having. 100 degrees for the past 2 days. I think by the end of the sale on Sunday we were all having mild heat strokes. For the past 2 days I have had a sore throat and sinus issues. Funny how the sun affects us sometimes....

Its also funny how unimportant our household item seem to us now that we have started "economizing" (as my husband puts it). I keep telling him that I am going to sell off everything so that one day he just looks around at our empty house and says "ok- now we can move to Hawaii."

After the flea market on Sunday we came home, blasted the air conditioner and cooked some amazing food including a chocolate pecan zucchini bundt cake. Instead of the 3 cups of zucchini the recipe calls for, ours had about 5 cups, making it that much healthier! We drizzled it with chocolate sauce too. Yum Yum!

I was just snooping thru Design Milk when I came across Jamie's Sarahseven post. The dresses are pretty cute but what I like more is this models bangs and color. I have been growing my hair out for over a year now and my bangs have been driving me nuts! Plus I went dark for winter. I am going to freshen my hair up for Spring with this do. I just made an appointment at a new salon, (I'm such a salon-whore). Now I have to wait a whole week.....
Have a great Weekend!

Meeting a new dog is exciting, but it can also be scary. This humorous how-to manual shows kids the best ways to interact with unfamiliar dogs, providing helpful tips about all sorts of dog behavior. Children often don’t understand what dogs’ actions mean and can misinterpret a threatening signal for a friendly one and vice versa. Kids and parents will return to Wendy Wahman’s playful illustrations again and again for useful reminders: Slow Down. Stay very still. And remember, don’t lick the dog!
Buy it here. Thanx Kim!

I still have not shown you the room that we built. If you remember- we took 2/3 of the garage and turned it into new offices. We still have a bunch of finish work left to do. We plan to use some of our products for the trim work. We bought the lights but have yet to hang them. We salvaged a few cubicles from our old offices, they have lighting built in so between that and the open door the room is quite nice.

That old Dutch door is so nice.
(I love that blue ceiling!)

Still a ton of boxes to unpack but we are making progress with each day.
