Duct Tape Bag

This is kinda silly and yet kinda cool. It would make a great gift bag for a dude.

tools
Scissors
materialsColored duct tape Bubblewrap (optional)
Tyvek shipping envelopes Clear Packing tape (optional)
NOTE: These instructions are for the striped bag pictured.
1. Cut about 3 inches from the adhesive top of one Tyvek envelope.
2. Starting at the bottom and working upward, apply tape to the envelope in horizontal stripes of alternating colors.
3. When you reach the top, fold over the excess tape to make a clean and even final stripe.
4. For the handles, take a 2-foot length of tape off the roll and fold it once lengthwise, so all the adhesive is covered and the strip is now about an inch wide.
5. Take the folded strip of tape and attach one end to the inside of the envelope about 2 inches left of the center and 2-3 inches from the top.
6. Attach the other end of the strip about 2 inches right of the center on the inside of the bag on the same side. Make sure it's attached the same distance from the top as the other side.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the handle on the other side of bag.
8. To create a flower, take about 1 foot of tape and fold it in half lengthwise.
9. Make cuts lengthwise, evenly from end to end of the folded tape, creating a fringe.
10. Make a circle with this piece, keeping the fringe on the outer part. This will be the base of your "petals."
11. Repeat steps 8-10 to add more petal layers to your duct-tape flower.
12. Join the petal layers together with the same color tape, then attach to the outside of your new striped bag.
