Faux Real Ya'll, What Would You Do?

I recently purchased a bag full of unfinished wooden wall plaques from the thrift store for a dollar. My first thought was to make some faux taxidermy for my kids room. Maybe bedhead a plushie or 2. But now I think that might be kinda morbid and perhaps bad parenting. I'm torn....
