Knitting Can Be So Cool

Because everything tastes better wrapped in bacon...even people!

I just love some of the brilliant ideas that knitters come up with! I really wish I knew how to knit and/or crochet.
Quote from the dolls artist- "This is definitely not my first knit, but its my first post on craftster. My friend asked for a knitted version of himself that he could cuddle with. He was mostly kidding, but I love an excuse to knit so I found the most embarrassing picture of him I could and re-created it. I think it's hilarious, but for the record, he's putting stuff on his inner legs to prevent chafing when he skimboards, not touching himself inappropriately. Oh, and I'm going to finish decorating the shorts later."

Another Great Use For Your Circle Cutter

I am always on the watch for new ways to package gifties. I love giving presents away in interesting packages. I think these fortune cookies are a great substitute for the old standby card or gift tag. Couldn't you just see one of these dangling off of a Chinese take out box thats full of birthday treasures?

It's log log, it's better than bad it's good

I bought these David Weeks campfire votive's as soon as they hit the stores. I think they look great on my table but when it comes time to set the table I feel as though I am doing them an injustice by not "camping up" the place settings.
These little loggy coasters and seat cushion has given me a bit of inspiration to make placemats using brown fabric with white or yellow thread.

I Am Not Spam Dammit!

The robots at blogger ate my blog and it took a few days for it to pass through their system. But I'm back now! Yay! Did anyone miss me?

Tube Vase

This tube vase looks really cool and is definitely something that can be done using recycled materials. How many of you have some sort of old laundry sorter sitting in your basement or garage? I have a few cylindrical vases from Easter gifties that would do the job, or you could even make and acrylic version using sheets of plexi glass and acrylic adhesive then cut you tubing to fit inside the vase. You may need to glue the tubes in at the bottom using a waterproof adhesive. I think this would be so lovely with Tulips in it!

Origami Dollar Bills

Check out these wonderful origami dollar bills, aren't they cool? Back in the day when I was waiting tables I received a few origami tips. It was really hard for me to bring myself to actually open them up and spend them but after all, that is what they were there for. If I would have received ones as lovely and ornate as these I never would have spent them.

Yay us!

I thought I'd put my money where my mouth is and show you a couple of our completed projects.
#1-Mr Hubby and I found 2 Imfors tables at a yard sale for $15.00 each last month. We took a 3/4inch 4x10 sheet of bamboo plywood, cut it straight down the middle, sanded and clear coated it and attached all 6 of the legs to it creating the perfect sofa table for our low leather sofa.
#2- We purchased a bunch of succulents at a flea market for $1-3 each and drug out out collection of thrifted black vessels. Looks pretty darn cool huh?

I swear she is totally sleep walking here. It's like she sensed that I was playing in dirt without her. She really let me know how unhappy she was about it and then went back to bed for another hour.

Hubby dashed out for some tiny black fish gravel to cover the soil up. Looks fabby!

Fabric Wrapped Bangles

Check out these chic Lee Angel Fabric Bangle Set . What a great way to revive those outdated eighties bangles you bought last year. Just cut or rip up fabric into thin strips and wrap them around your bangle. Prolly could use a bit of fabric glue to hold it in place.

Oh Amy, How I Love Thee

Did anyone catch Amy Sedaris on Sesame Street today? It's a rerun but a nice treat when you have to sit through it with the wee one. If you haven't read her book I Like You I highly recommend it. I could not put it down when I read it and I love seeing it on my wall of cookbooks. I have her sitting right in between The Joy of Sex and The Joy of Cooking.

Felt Kiddy Food At Mahar Drygoods

This felted play food is the best! Making these could even be a fun project with the kids.

The pizza reminds me of a pizza pillow we had to make in order to graduate from 8th grade Home Economics class. (Do kids still take that nowadays?)

I love the ravioli!
