Making a No-Sew Baby Sling

Choose a t-shirt that is MUCH too small for you. Cut off the sleeves and top. Fold the top edge down into the pouch to hide the cut edge. Some shirts are stretchier than others. You may need to try several shirts before you find one that is the right size.
Lookit What I Just Ordered!
I sold Mr hubby on it by pointing out that we can have fresh herbs and tomatoes when we finally buy our giant catamaran and travel the world. lol Sound funny when I say that but trust me- its going to happen really soon.
So here is the product description- Enjoy fresh greens at every meal no matter what the season. With AeroGrow's AeroGarden garden kit, it's easy to cultivate lettuce, cherry tomatoes, herbs, chili peppers, edible flowers, and more in an energy-efficient, organic-based environment right in the kitchen. This compact chef's tool includes everything the indoor farmer needs: a preseeded bio-dome grow pod, two daylight-spectrum bulbs, nutrients, and a helpful tending and harvesting guide complete with recipes. Just follow the simple instructions to set up, and the growing process starts immediately, with germination occurring within 24 hours and a mature plant that is ready five times faster than if grown in soil. The AeroGarden
system monitors itself to create ideal growing conditions for each plant and alerts you when it's time to add more water and nutrients. No dirt or natural light is needed, so even low-light spaces are suitable. Plug kits for many kinds of plants are available from AeroGrow.

Dip Dye Tea Towels
Lookit- Loraine of grijs is making the tea towels that go with our trench coats!
Recycled Cardboard Dollhouses

I spotted this at ohdeedoh- dollhouses made from old magazines. My little friends and I used to do just that! I have been saving a few pictures and samples lately to put in our new craft cart. I am so excited that they were thinking along the same lines as me!
Tiny Terrariums
My step son is in town so we have been discussing terrariums and living walls alot lately. He lives in Chicago where it is freezing. He and his friends just rented a retail space and are going to do some sort of art installation using plants. I think they are getting Spring fever. The details are a bit vague since he is 20 and doesn't seem to give up much information or articulate well to me but when I saw this terrarium ornament I thought of him. They are so sweet..... I would love to see a huge tree with these hanging from it. Meanwhile- I also thought it would be a fun project to do with my tot this Spring.

Strung Out Again

I spotted this over at moooi and was reminded of something I once saw at Readymade. They wrapped string that had been soaked in glue around cans and balloons to make shades to put over hanging lights and strings of Christmas lights. I know that you can still buy those giant round balloons at Kmart and Walmart and other cheapy stores. Might be fun to try.....
Monochrome
I found this article about 5 New Yorkers who wear the same color everyday to be totally fascinating.

Now With More Tutorials

Today I am working on changing my Wists Widget that you see in the side bar. Instead of just featuring things that appeal to me, it will now all be craft tutorials. I am also going to add a separate widget for craft ideas that are specifically for children as well. My little Salamander is now 2 1/2 and we just put together our craft cart for her so I am on the hunt for easy craft ideas. If anyone knows of a great tutorial that they want added to either category leave a comment for me.
There are many ways to clean the outside of your computer's display (Windex, damp paper towels, shirt sleeves, newspaper, etc.), but did you know that you should also periodically clean the inside?
For computer geeks and tinkerers, this is no big deal. Out come the screwdrivers and canned air, and in no time at all, the display is back together and clean as a whistle (hopefully it still works).
What if there was a way for you to get the inside of your screen cleaned without going through all the fuss? I'll bet even the geeks and tinkerers would go for it!

A husband walks into Victoria’s Secret to purchase a sheer negligee for his wife. He is shown several possibilities that range from $250 to $500 in price, the more sheer, the higher the price. Naturally, he opts for the most sheer item, pays the $500, and takes it home.
He presents it to his wife and asks her to go upstairs, put it on, and model it for him. Upstairs, the wife thinks, "I have an idea. It's so sheer that it might as well be nothing. I won't put it on, but I'll do the modeling naked, return it tomorrow, and keep the $500 refund for myself."
So she appears naked on the balcony and strikes a pose.
The husband says, "Good Grief! You'd think for $500, they'd at least iron it!"
He never heard the shot.

Miss Beatrice, the church organist, was in her eighties and had never been married.
She was admired for her sweetness and kindness to all.
One afternoon the pastor came to call on her and she showed him into her quaint sitting room.
She invited him to have a seat while she prepared tea.
As he sat facing her old Hammond organ, the young minister noticed a
CUT -glass bowl sitting on top of it.
The bowl was filled with water, and in the water floated, of all things, a condom!
When she returned with tea and scones, they began to chat.
The pastor tried to stifle his curiosity about the bowl of water and its strange floater, but soon it got the better of him and he could no longer resist.
'Miss Beatrice', he said, 'I wonder if you would tell me about this?' pointing to the bowl.
'Oh, yes,' she replied, 'Isn't it wonderful? I was walking through the Park a few months ago and I found this little package on the ground.
The directions said to place it on the organ,
keep it wet and that it would prevent the spread of disease.
Do you know I haven't had the flu all winter.'![]()

Silky Girly Lampy
Yesterday I showed you a fantastic lamp that would be perfect for a man-boy's room. Today you get a few girly lamps! Here are 2 examples of simple ways to embellish an already existing lamp. I always find that when tying a bow, I get it straighter and more centered if i stand over it and do it upside down.
I would definitely use a beautiful thin silk ribbon to embroider this one.

Gold Toy Lamp
How cool is this? I want a son just so I can make this out of his old junky action figures! Just glue them all around the base of a simple lamp and spray the heck out of it with gold paint. The perfect lamp for a transitioning man-boy's room!
Sanity Breakfast Chardonnay

ZGallerie is now selling skull wine bottles. The silly part is that you can buy them empty for $32.95 or full for $65.00! My first thought was -why the heck wouldn't you just print off your own skull picture and glue it on your own dang empty bottle? Or better yet- stick it on some 2 Buck Chuck! Anyone one with a brain can figure out how to use their computer and printer to make such a label. Then today I found this great little site (thanks to JCaroline) It allows you to make your own wine labels for free!
So now us folks with only half a brain can make own own skully vino. (but I like the one posted on her blog better now)
Also at JCaroline is a fantastic tutorial for making these great fabric bins. I have been searching and searching for such a tute so that I can make replacement boxes for my kids toy storage thingy.
You Say Porada, I Say Paroda
Here are I few things that I spotted over at Porada today that really have me inspired.
I love the stripes on this. Just a little masking tape and paint on your already existing table and you have quite a statement piece!
These 2 pieces looks like it could be made using pieces from the Stolmen collection at Ikea. Use a doorknob bit to go through some Lack shelves and Vwolla!
This is such a simple and somehow sweet idea.

How To Cut A Big Circle

This is an update on a post from last June about this wonderful vintage belt mat. I received an email from someone who posted on Instructables on how to cut a large circle and he wrote this to me-
"i wanted to tell you how to make a nice circle so
you can cut your mat. this is what i wrote:
to get a perfect circle you will need:
1 nail or pin
1 pencil/pen/marker
1 piece of string.
Tie the string to the nail pin, pull the string
out the radius of the circle and tie it to the
pen/pencil. Stick the pin/nail in the middle of
your belt mat, pull the string tight & then draw
around in a circle keeping the string tight as you go"
Thanks Intoon!

Check out this really cool circle cutter that Annita found. It allows you to cut up to 8 different sizes!

Who's Your Match?

Fox L.A. has an interesting little quiz up on their site that helps you match a candidate to what issues are important to you. I found it a bit flawed in the fact that they just give you a vague description of each question. But what I did find interesting is at the end you get to see the candidates answer to the questions. They were wrong about who they chose for me but after reading all the answers it cleared up the fact that I was right about who I wanted. (and I'll never tell you who;p)
Click here for the Fox site, and the "Who's You Match" button is right in the middle of the page.

Embroidered Art

I love these embroidered pieces of art that I spotted at Vitamin D today. I am very inspired to make something similar on my own. I could drag out that old wood grain faux finishing tool again.
