I made the best chocolate chip cookies last night! I started with Amy Sedaris's recipe (which starts with the Tollhouse recipe) and then tweaked it a bit more and I have to say, they are the best cookies I have made in a long time!
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened ( I used salted)
1/3 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoon vanilla extract (do not skimp on the vanilla, use your good stuff *)
2 large eggs
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 bags semi sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts (not optional!)
Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract until creamy. Mix eggs in well. Gradually beat in flour and baking soda. Stir in chips and nuts. Chill for 2-4 hours, then roll into balls and bake at 375 degrees for 9-11 minutes.
Next prop yourself up on the couch with a large glass of milk and the remote. Commence gorging!

DIY Hanging Planter
I read about this idea over at Mint Blog about using wooden crates to create this different take on the hanging plant. I happen to have several wooden toy crates laying around that would be perfect for this.

We have been working on our big move for the past few days. We swapped rooms with Sophie and put her new loft bed together. Now she has a desk, so I dashed out to the thrift store at the end of the road to see if I could find a $5.00 desk chair for her. As if it was calling me, I found a great little chair for $4.99! I should have taken before and after pictures but my Husband and I took it apart and reupholstered it as soon as it rolled through the door.
We still need lampshades for the little lamps that were once in my Etsy shop. tee hee. Now that we have a camper and with all this remodeling we are doing, I have taken like 20 items down from the shop and put them to use here!
I think I may go with this shade from Ikea...

Banksy Versus Bristol Museum
I know I am a bit behind on this one. I did hear about it last week, but it is not in my country so I just saved the link for a later date. I just watched the videos and as I imaged, I am jealous of you Brits yet again! Lucky (how do you say?) buggers! lol
I just love Banksy's crazy style and the fact that no one seems to have ever met him.
100 works will be shown and this quote of the master himself sums it up perfectly: “This is the first show I’ve ever done where taxpayers’ money is being used to hang my pictures up rather than scrape them off”.

I seemed to have a double ear infection of some sort. It is making me feel tired and heavy. I am making some chai tea and I think I will put a bit of sipping chocolate in it. I read someone elses blog who tried that and loved it. Wish I could remeber who. Dang my ears hurt!

Blown Fabric


“Blown Fabric” is collection of lamps designed by Nendo. They used the material Smash, a long-fibre non-woven polyester, which can be shaped in almost any form when heated. The production technique is very similar to blown glass. They used LED bulbs to make sure that the lampshades do not collapse.

This will be on display during the Milan furniture fair at the Tokyo Fiber ‘09 Senseware exhibition.

"Born and raised in the depths of North Yorkshire, I am currently in my final year at Edinburgh College of Art. I have had a lifelong love of drawing, painting and crafting, and enjoy using a combination of all three of these approaches in my current work. I am inspired by the relics of a bygone era and spend many an afternoon immersed in the contents of the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh.
My work has been exhibited at Godfrey and Watt gallery in Harrogate, and I shall be having a show with Angie Lewin at St. Jude’s gallery, Aylesham at the end of August this year."

If I have another baby (which hopefully will not happen), I am so going to have a hanging cradle rather than your run of the mill big store crib again.


This made me think if chopping up a map of a city that I enjoy, but only displaying the spots that I liked or have been.

I just happened to be messing around with some linen. I was sewing it in this manner. I also cut the edged of my folds to create an unfinished look. I love love love it and am trying to figure out where I want to take it from there.
I have been thinking about making something like a quilt using ticking....this makes me think of that.
I think this would encourage a kid to read more if they had a private cozy nook to do it in. Worked for me and my sister when we were kids. We used to climb up to the top shelf of out big closet and read and nap. no one ever found us.
This look would be easy to create using Billy cases mounted on the walls.
I just heard on HGTV (i think) "If you want your kids and grandkids to visit you more, build an incredible house!" I think the kiddies would love hanging beds. Don't you?
